Tony Palumbo

With more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, Tony Palumbo’s track record in risk management, creating customized insurance solutions for clients, growing sales, revenue, net profit and revenue per person demonstrates an unyielding commitment to excellence for his constituents and his clients.  Currently President and CEO of Palumbo Insurance Associates in Bel Air Maryland, Tony has built a network of Alternative Risk Transfer solutions for the Healthcare profession that allows Palumbo Insurance Associates (PIA) to deliver unparalleled savings for physicians and the healthcare community as a whole.   It is his firm belief that the physicians are being “squeezed” financially from all angles and that one of the largest expenses in Healthcare, medical liability insurance, is an area where there exist immediate relief!  The only parties benefiting from the current traditional insurance market are the insurance companies and the legal profession.  It is PIA’s passion to share the benefits of the Alternative Risk Transfer Markets and the significant savings that can be secured with all healthcare providers in the mid-Atlantic region willing to move to 21st Century solutions.

Before founding PIA, as President and Chief Operating Officer of Clements International in Washington D.C., Tony led the company’s strategic and operational objectives, doubling the sales, increasing return on revenues by more than 50 percent, hosting agents and delegations from Asia and Europe to enhance and expand its global network, and introducing unique medical insurance programs for The Peace Corps and American International Schools around the globe, among other achievements. Under his guidance, the company became a Lloyd’s of London Cover holder and was cited as a “Best Practices” agency by The Independent Agents & Brokers of America.  Prior to joining Clements International as Director of Operations in 1996, Tony served as Vice President in Finance for The Maryland Insurance Group, a subsidiary of Zurich North America.  Tony was also with Fireman’s Fund for 11 years in New Jersey, New York City and Chicago with his last assignment being Assistant Vice President of the mid-west regional operations center.  Also Tony is certified and licensed in a number of states for an array of insurance products, including , property and casualty; life and health; excess and surplus lines, and has written articles and chapters that have appeared in Global Insight and Business Change and Re-Engineering Journal of Corporate Transformation. PIA is also a member of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers and is active in the MD/DC SHRM Chapter.  Tony lives in Bel Air, Maryland with his wife and family.
